Is Calamity Mod harder than vanilla? ›

Mostly identical to vanilla, with some additional vanilla changes to the difficulty that are configurable. The intended Calamity experience, introducing new mechanics, boss AI, and other assorted changes. A more difficult challenge for those looking to prove themselves. Not recommended for a first playthrough.

When focusing on the main objectives, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is about 24½ Hours in length. If you're a gamer that strives to see all aspects of the game, you are likely to spend around 76 Hours to obtain 100% completion.

The difficulty modes are way too extreme in this mod in my opinion. It's honestly obnoxious. The expectations of the player are so unrealistic even for people who are good at the game. So, I recommend playing classic or expert, not revengeance or death, especially if you're playing for the first time.

With all of these, the player's maximum life is capped at 600.

Corruption is objectively better for expert. The regen of the Crimson armor is far better than the Corruption armor, and is much better for combat. However, the expert mode exclusive item is far better in the Corruption, while the one in the Crimon is basically usless. and everybody knows eow death mode is sextreme :P.

Legendary Mode: The hardest difficulty yet, exclusive to the for the worthy secret seed. Essentially a new upgraded version of Master Mode, it unfortunately doesn't have its own exclusive drops. With one character, one world and no Sundial, you need to spend 80 hours. 200 ingame days at 24 minutes each.

The Desert Scourge is a Pre-Hardmode boss. It is intended to be one of the first bosses fought by the player and is considered to be the weakest of all of the bosses added by the Calamity Mod.

Daytime in Terraria begins with sunrise at 4:30 AM and lasts for 15 hours (15 minutes of gameplay) until the sun sets at 7:30 PM.

Death Mode is the second gamemode introduced in the Calamity Mod, serving as an increased difficulty level to Revengeance Mode.

Does Calamity make bosses harder? ›

Most bosses in Calamity are designed to be more difficult than those of vanilla Terraria, offering a challenge even to seasoned players, but are not required to progress through the vanilla game's content. To make up for this, they often drop more powerful equipment and open up new tiers of progression.

The maximum amount of health a player can have at once is 600. It can be achieved by using 15 Life Crystals, 20 Life Fruits, and a Lifeforce Potion. Some events require a player to have a certain amount of health before they can happen: More than 100 for the Nurse to spawn.

The mounts that already grant infinite flight still have infinite flight. The Soaring Insignia is not a wing-type accessory and does not inherently grant the ability to fly. The player must equip it alongside wings or Rocket Boots in order to receive its infinite flight time bonus.

In my experience, it's a lot different from vanilla's Master mode. Difficulty is subjective, and more-so because of what it entails. Calamity has a lot of bullet hell elements, so if you can dodge well, then it might actually be easier than Master mode.

The Calamity Mod is a must-have if you're looking for a challenging and expansive gameplay experience. It has received widespread acclaim from the Terraria community for its massive content and exceptional design, making it a top choice if you're looking for something new and exciting in your Terraria gameplay.

The gameplay can feel a little grindy.

Coming from the first Hyrule Warriors game, which I played on the Wii U along with all five other Wii U owners, I can definitely say that things improved dramatically in the grinding department with Age of Calamity.
