Haven’t given an update in a while. Here’s my learnings over the course of my first few months at IRYS Insurtech. 1.) Our team is unique. There’s so much good that comes from having such a special group of capable and intelligent humans around you that pushes the envelope on what’s possible. 2.) Agents and brokers truly are doing more with less. After all these meetings, I leave the conversation amazed at how they’ve stitched together an ecosystem to do what they do. 3.) Different size firms sometimes don’t know they need different things. 4.) As an industry collectively (carriers, brokers and agents, tech companies) we have a tendency to get overly focused on one problem (more coming on this in a later post). That focus on one problem leads to narrow scope or narrow output. It also ignores the 20 other things that one problem cascades to and impacts. 5.) The amount of talent in our industry doesn’t get enough credit. There’s so many wonderfully amazing humans. They have unique perspectives and beneficial insights that could advance our industry at a more rapid pace in many sectors. All companies large or small, broker or carrier, please let these amazing humans have the freedom to go do. Just because we have done it a way doesn’t mean someone on your team doesn’t have a better way.
