When you purchase our PVC Stap on boss, you will receive:
The most common method used to protect aboveground ABS, CPVC, and PVC pipe from the sun is painting it with a latex (water-based) paint. Preparation of the surface prior to painting is very important: The pipe should be cleaned to remove moisture, dirt, and oil and wiped with a clean, dry cloth.
This strap on boss will allow the installer to add an entry to the soil stack for a waste pipe. It features a 63mm boss for use with a 110mm Push Fit Soil Rubber Boss Adaptor to reduce to 32/40/50mm waste pipe. The strap on boss fits around the plastic soil and vent pipe and can be attached and removed with ease.
Because PVC is immune to corrosion, a minimum service life of at least 100 years can be expected. This figure is supported by a number of independent studies, as well as the experience of many long-term users of PVC piping systems.
In above ground installations, pipes should be laid on broad, smooth bearing surfaces wherever possible to minimise stress concentration and to prevent physical damage. PVC pipe should not be laid on steam lines or in proximity to other high temperature surfaces.
What is the recommended fall for a soil pipe? The maximum fall for a waste pipe is 1 in 40. The minimum fall is 1 in 110 (apart from vertical pipes, but that's a different story). So pipes with a gradient between 1 in 40 and 1 in 110 should have adequate flow to prevent blockages from occurring.
Solvent weld around the hole and the flange of the Strap on Boss. Push fittings together to secure bond. Squeeze the clips at the back together to secure the Strap on Boss to the soil pipe. to pipe, use rubber boss adaptors SP10/11/12.
For the vertical sections, one strap in the center of the run is sufficient. For the horizontal lengths, code is every 4 feet. I would do one in the center and back 4 feet in each direction. So 3 straps on the horizontal section.
4 Cut a 54mm hole into the soil pipe. 4 Solvent weld around the hole and the flange of the Strap on Boss. 4 The Strap on Boss has a built in fall of 2½ degrees.
For permanent above-ground PVC pipe installations, it is recommended that the pipe be protected from sun- light exposure. This can be accomplished by wrapping the pipe with an opaque material, or more commonly, by painting it.
The trench bottom should be continuous, relatively smooth and free of rocks. Where ledge rock, hardpan or boulders are encountered, it is necessary to pad the trench bottom using a maximum of four (4) inches of tamped earth or sand beneath the pipe as a cushion and for protection of the pipe from damage.
One of the most harmful things for PVC pipes is sun exposure. PVC that is run above ground and exposed to sunlight can break down faster than it normally would. The ultraviolet rays from the sun can actually break down the structure of PVC material and make it brittle and breakable.
Apply PVC primer: Use a brush to apply PVC primer to the outside of the pipe end and the inside of the fitting. The primer only needs a few seconds to dry. Apply PVC cement: When the primer is dry, use a different brush to apply PVC cement to the same areas. Apply the cement in a thin, even layer.
