OU’s NCAA record now is 41-29, which ranks 19th all-time. The Sooners the last two weeks have passed Maryland, Illinois, Oklahoma State and Utah.
OU also has surpassed Illinois as the school with the most NCAA Tournament victories without an NCAA championship. The 18 schools ahead of the Sooners all have won at least one NCAA basketball title.
The schools with the most NCAA Tournament wins, without a title, are OU (41), Illinois (40), Notre Dame (37), Texas (35), Purdue (34), Kansas State (33) and Temple (33).

The Sooners have appeared in the NCAA tournament 33 times. Their combined record is 42–33. They have appeared in the Final Four of the tournament 5 times, tied with The University of Illinois for second-most appearances without winning a national championship.
UCLA has won the most championships in the history of men's college basketball, with 11 wins since 1939. The Bruins have won 13% of the championships. UConn has won six championships since the start of the tournament.

UCLA also holds the record for the most consecutive championships, winning seven in a row from 1967 to 1973. Kentucky has the second-most titles, with eight. North Carolina and Connecticut are tied for third with six championships each, while Duke and Indiana follow with five each.
